Tradespeople praise the take-back service forconstruction foam

In 2021, 99.3 percent of users were satisfied or very satisfied with the free take-back and recycling service for used assembly foam cans. 99.2 percent would even recommend it. This is the result of a customer survey conducted by PDR Recycling GmbH + Co KG, Thurnau (UpperFranconia), in which 712 trade companies, DIY stores and municipal collection centre participated. The PDR logistics partners, who collect the cans from the companies, also performed very well with 98.2 percent overall satisfaction. "Theresult shows us that even small-scale special waste can be disposed of and recycled in a customer-friendly manner," explains PDR Marketing Manager Annette Schnauder.

The use of the take-back service is simple: The used foam cans are collected in the original sales packaging. This also serves as the return packaging. After this, all that is needed is a free phone call (0800-7 83 67 36), an email (abholauftrag@pdr.de) or a click on the "Online collection order" button at www.pdr.de. The recycling specialists then take care of the collection and recycling. The company receives a confirmation of acceptance, providing proof for the authorities that the special waste will be disposed of correctly.

Many DIY stores, specialist retailers and builder's merchants also take back used PUfoam cans by the box and arrange for them to be collected by PDR. Such return points for boxes and also individual construction foam cans can be found at www.pdr.de/plz-suche.

Construction foam cans are classified as hazardous waste due to their MDI content. For this reason, they must not be placed in the mixed construction waste containers, residual waste, yellow bags or the tinplate waste collection. The right way is to recycle this waste through PDR. The company recycles more than 95 percent of the cans, about 80 percent of which is materials, and returns the raw materials and products recovered to the economic cycle.
